Mendip earned a valuable three points on Saturday with a hard-fought win against a determined Taw Valley side.
The home team had the better of the early chances, but found the Taw Valley defenders and keeper in good form. The visitors then took an unlikely lead with a goal on the counter-attack.
Maddy Collins put Mendip back on terms with a beautifully-taken strike from the middle of the D, after good work down the right by the midfield.
The second half saw Mendip dominate, with Taw Valley restricted to just one shot on target, and the Mendip defence pushing up into the Taw Valley half. Player of the Match, Hayley Young, distributed the ball well, allowing the forwards to get in behind the Taw Valley defence and create a number of great shooting opportunities.
With just minutes remaining, after some excellent passing, the ball was worked into the D, and Collins was well placed to slot home her second goal of the afternoon to give the home side the win.
This Saturday, 3rd March, Mendip are away to Weston -super-Mare at 11.30 a.m.
