Results for Writhlington Tennis club from 23rd June are as follows.
Men’s Results: Firsts lost 8–2 at Coombe Dingle1, (Division 2A), Seconds won 8–2 home to Knowle4, (Division 5B), Thirds lost 6–4 at Olveston2, (Division 6A), Fourths lost 10–0 at Knowle5, (Division 8B), Fifths won 6–4 home to Westbury Park, (Division 9D). Ladies’ Results: Firsts won 8–2 home to Redland Green1, (Division 1), Seconds won 10–0 at Bath3, (Division 5A), Thirds won 10–0 home to Knowle5, (Division 6B), Fourths, no match, (Division 7A).
The ladies continued their fantastic season with another stonking clean sweep and the Firsts now appear to be getting to grips with playing in Division 1 with their best result of the season, against the second-placed team too! The Seconds are firmly at the top of the table, and the Thirds crushed their championship rivals 10–0.
The men’s Firsts salvaged two points from the top of the table team, and the Seconds caused an upset to threaten Knowle’s promotion place. The Thirds gained four valuable points at the runaway leaders to continue staking their claim for promotion, and the Fifths got their first win of the season! Only the Fourths had a disappointing result, although the tennis and banter were excellent!
