Since receiving funding from The West of England Combined Authority “Bee Bold” Pollinator Fund, Southfield Community Garden has been a hub of activity.
Over the last six months there has been much abuzz at Southfield Community Garden. The area has been landscaped, compost bins built, a dead hedge established, bug house built, interpretation boards created, and fruit trees planted along with hundreds of spring bulbs. One of the highlights has been the installation of the educational classroom which has already been put to good use. There have been three visits from 1st Radstock Beaver Group who have enjoyed learning about the pollination process, helped with the building of the dead hedge and painted ladybirds and butterflies onto the compost bin boards and planted spring bulbs.
The project would not be possible without the support of dedicated volunteers, and we are indebted to the Radstock In Bloom team and many volunteers who have given their time to support this incredible project.
In the New Year we look forward to welcoming new groups who have expressed an interest in supporting the project and using the Southfield Community Garden to run their own activities.
