A popular cycle path bridge could be closed if vandals continue to rip out its wooden handrails.

Kev Latchem raised concerns about the bridge between Mardons Social Club, Westfield, and Pit Lane after finding a number of rails rotten or missing.

He reported the problem through FixMyStreet and said the council quickly carried out repairs only for newly-installed rails to be torn off the following day.

Mr Latchem said council workers had since returned to repair the damage again, but warned residents the bridge could be closed if the vandalism continued.

He said losing the route would be a “massive blow” to people who use it to walk safely towards Midsomer Norton High Street and urged witnesses to report vandalism to police.
