A BATH-based trio of musicians are hosting a series of Café Concerts during the day at St John's Church this Autumn.

Trio Paradis play more than 120 daytime classical concerts each year in community venues across Somerset and Wiltshire that are designed to bring live music to new audiences.

The concerts are targeted at people who are unable to go to evening concerts for reasons of lack of transport or finances, or being a full-time carer and would otherwise miss out on the opportunity.

The trio are made up of Jacquelyn Bevan on piano, Ruth O’Shea on violin and Linda Stocks on cello and they will be playing a Café Concert at St John's Church, Midsomer Norton, on the first Friday of the month at 12.30pm throughout the rest of the year.

A pop-up café will be serving homemade cakes from 12 noon followed by the 45-minute concert which is ‘pay-what-you-feel’ to ensure everyone can access live music, regardless of income, the group says.

On Friday, October 2 the theme is From Dawn to Dusk: a variety of music inspired by times of day, including Circulo by Spanish composer Joaquín Turina, Matin and Soir by French composer Mel Bonis, and a rarely performed song Soleils Couchants by Adela Maddison who was connected with the earliest Glastonbury Festivals.

On November 6 the theme is What's in a Name? and on December 4, the trio explore Winter Landscapes featuring sleigh rides by Delius and Tchaikovsky.
