The trial of a man charged with the murder of fifty-year-old Philip Jones, who lived in Writhlington, is due to take place at the end of the year, it has been reported.

Meshach Caven-Thompson (32), from Bath, was charged with murder at the end of June in connection with the incident, which took place in the early hours of 16th June.

Police are still appealing for anyone with information to come forward, including the location of a green track suit, possibly North Face brand, which may have been discarded in the vicinity of the A362 Radstock to Frome, B3139 Faulkland Road, or the A36 towards Warminster.

Mr Jones was found at a property in Huish Court, Writhlington, and died of multiple stab wounds.

Meshach Caven-Thompson attended Bristol Crown Court on 30th July as part of pre-trial preparations. He has pleaded not guilty to the charge.
