School leavers from Norton Hill’s class of 78–83 are being invited to a special 80s night reunion which will be raising money for both Macmillan and the Freewheelers Blood Bikes.
Organisers of the event, which has taken place on two previous occasions, are looking forward to the catch-up on Saturday, 13th May at Prattens Sports and Social Club,
Westfield, from 7.30 p.m. until midnight. There will be an 80s disco and tickets are available from Mandy Brown at New Lido Chef, Radstock, or call Mandy on: 07838 429712 or Sharon Melling on: 07792 327881. They can also be collected from
Elizabeth Ashman at Buildbase.
Speaking about the event, one of the organisers and former Norton Hill pupil, Mandy Brown, said: “Our first reunion took place in the year that we all turned thirty; we held another when we were forty, and now we are all celebrating fiftieth birthdays.
“It’s an opportunity to catch up and reconnect with other people that were in our school year – we might not do another, so it would be really good to see as many people as possible come along. This time we’ll also be raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support, in memory of those former classmates who are no longer with us, and we’ll also be supporting fellow ex-pupil, Chris Kearns, and the charity that he rides for – the Freewheelers Blood Bikes.”
The emergency service, Freewheelers, helps deliver vital out-of-hours, blood, breast milk and medical records, amongst other things, to hospitals, covering vast areas and run entirely by volunteers.
