It has been a busy time for members of Midsomer Norton & Radstock Inner Wheel Club who celebrated their 64th Charter Night dinner at The Old Down Inn and were entertained and mystified by Tony Griffin on ‘the art of the magician’.

Five evenings later they were visited by District Chairman, Pam Brewster from Frome, who amazed with tales of her determined and energetic life that has taken her from being a technical and commercial illustrator, an insurance company’s department head, through to motherhood and Open University graduation and on up the ranks of teaching to school head and eventual lecturer.

She now runs GIFT, a charity that awards bursaries to enable young people to fulfil projects in developing countries, and is also a dementia ‘champion’, visiting shops, offices and groups giving advice on how people can live well with the condition.

Pam brought along her framed stitch work creation that she is raffling towards dementia care/research at the end of her visits to many Inner Wheel clubs during her year in office.

Members are now looking forward to their November meeting, when Avril Leat will be demonstrating Christmas flower arranging, and to their festive Christmas meal with Secret Santa gifts.

New members to the club’s monthly meetings at Emborough’s Old Down Inn are always welcome, and Secretary Elaine can be contacted on: 07543 973666 for more information. Sue Meadows
