A Radstock head teacher has made national news this week after
speaking to the BBC about the impact of Covid restrictions on teaching and the strain it is putting on the mental health of staff.
Nicola Smith, the head teacher of St Nicholas Primary School, spoke out prior to the lockdown decision on Monday evening, amid the row over whether or not children should be back at school. Ms Smith said: “We talk a lot about the mental health of children but the mental health of teaching staff and head teachers across the nation is as poor as I’ve ever seen it. We are a
caring profession but at some point somebody has to look after us.”
