CHILCOMPTON Art Club is throwing open its doors once again for its Annual Open Day Exhibition, taking place on Saturday, June 6.
The event has become a regular highlight in the village calendar. Visitors will be able to drop in throughout the day between 10am and 4pm to view an impressive display of artwork created by club members, ranging from paintings and drawings to mixed‑media pieces, entrance is free to all.
Members will be on hand to chat about their work, techniques, and inspirations, making the day an inviting opportunity for anyone curious about art - whether seasoned enthusiasts or complete beginners.
Alongside the exhibition, guests can enjoy refreshments and take part in a raffle, with the winner receiving their choice of one of two original artworks generously donated by club members.
This year’s Open Day also includes a special interactive element: attendees will be invited to vote for their top three favourite pieces submitted by the members in the club's annual competition; this years challenge has the title ‘Birds’. Voting will decide the winner of the competition.
Art club secretary Nigel Punchard said: “The club hopes the event will continue to make the community aware their presence and encourage new faces to discover the joy of producing art.”
The Chilcompton art club was founded by a few friends who wished to share their love for art, back in the 1980’s, and today it has evolved into a thriving group consisting of 30-40 members with a variety of artistic styles. Throughout the year the club organises opportunities for members to expand their horizons with trips to exhibitions and galleries, inviting professional artists to come to the club for demonstrations and workshops.
The exhibition takes place at at The Chilcompton Sports Club, Wells Road, Chilcompton, BA3 4EY with ample free parking and refreshments available throughout the day.
