Frome's Nature Recovery Plan is being launched at a film screening this October.

The launch features Heal the Land, a documentary telling the story of the transformation of a former intensive dairy farm in Somerset into a thriving landscape for nature and people.

Filmed entirely at the Heal Somerset site during 2024, the 25-minute film follows the early stages of the site's rewilding journey, from the return of wildlife to the changes taking place across the land.

The evening marks the launch of Frome's Nature Recovery Plan, setting out a vision for supporting nature, improving habitats and helping wildlife flourish across the town and surrounding area.

Over the summer, Frome Town Council invited the community to review and comment on the draft plan through the My Frome platform, helping to ensure that the final document reflects local knowledge, priorities and ambitions for nature recovery in and around the town.

Cllr Sara Butler said: "We have so many local people who care deeply about nature and the environment.

“The launch of our Nature Recovery Plan is an opportunity to celebrate what is already happening locally and look at what more we can achieve together.

“Heal the Land is a reminder that nature can recover surprisingly quickly when given the chance, and we hope people will come away feeling inspired and hopeful about what we can achieve here in Frome.”

Following the screening, attendees can hear from a panel of guests during a Q&A session including Jan Stannard, acting CEO and founder trustee of Heal Rewilding, who will share insights from Heal Somerset's rewilding journey.

Doors open at Frome Town Hall on Tuesday, October 20 at 6.30pm with the screening beginning at 7pm.

Tickets are free with a suggested £3 donation and can be booked via Frome Town Council website.
