AN INSPIRING documentary Woolf Women: Now or Never will be showing at the Merlin Theatre Company in Frome with a Q&A by the film’s director on Thursday, June 18.
Hosted by Frome Town Council, Frome Skatepark Project and Merlin Theatre, Woolf Women: Now or Never is a bold, funny documentary that captures the freedom, chaos, and sheer adrenaline of downhill skateboarding.
Following five fearless young women on an epic journey across Europe to the ancient Sumela Monastery in Turkey, the film is part skate adventure, part road trip, and part celebration of friendship, courage, and pushing yourself beyond your limits.
Fast-paced and full of energy, Woolf Women goes far beyond the tricks and the travelling. It’s about taking risks, backing each other, and finding strength through challenge.
As the journey unfolds, the film reveals the determination, vulnerability, and resilience behind the adventure, making it just as moving as it is exhilarating. Whether into skateboarding or not, it’s a story about freedom, community, and what can happen when people dare to go for it.
This special screening, introduced by Woolf Women director Marchella de Angelis, is being hosted by Frome Skatepark Project, with all proceeds going towards building a new skatepark for Frome.
More than just a film night, it’s a chance to support a project that could make a real difference to the town. A new skatepark would create a welcoming, inclusive space for young people and the wider community to skate, ride, connect, build confidence and have fun, organisers say.
Woolf Women is fearless, uplifting and full of heart; the perfect choice for a fundraiser that’s all about community, energy and creating something lasting for Frome.
The film is rated 15-plus with tickets costing £7.00 with a 55p booking fee via the website at: www.ticketsource.com/merlin-theatre-trust-ltd/woolf-women-now-or-never/e-dlyrdv
