Some bitterly cold mornings have brought out all of the hats, scarves and gloves from the back of the wardrobe. Perfect timing by Disney to release their latest blockbuster, Frozen 2.
It was also the return last week of The Special One, who else but José Mourinho, back from the wilderness and having instant success as the new Manager of Spurs, as they defeated West Ham at the London Stadium. Let’s hope he will be more successful than he was at Manchester United.
Back to Golf, and the Farrington Park Seniors took part in a Bowmaker, best two scores from three. Apparently, Mike Astle may well have been in the prizes for this one, but probably best not to go there, should we Captain?!
Winning with 84 points were the handy trio of Martin Clark, Tony Quinn and Pete Maule, who were two points ahead of second-placed Ham Ridene, Adrian Miller and Alan Smith. In third place, a further point adrift on 81 points, were Don Perry, Bob Baker and Geoff Clare. Newly-appointed Men’s Captain, Alan Fussell partnered Steve Ball and new member, Mike Mahoney, to fourth place on eighty points. With two teams finishing on 79 points it was all pretty tight at the top.
Nearest the Pins on the 8th was Phil Button, 14th Alan Taylor and building up a tidy stock of golf balls, Mike Woodward on the 15th. There were ten two spot winners, each claiming £4. Rob Thain
