Just over three months away, the London Marathon is 26.2 miles, passing by a number of iconic London landmarks.

Daniel will be joined by over 40,000 other inspiring runners raising money for hundreds of charities through fundraising events prior to the marathon.

Windsor Hill, local Mortgage Advisors, decided to raise money for Mind by holding a Great Windsor Hill Bake-off; after a weekend of baking and weeks of prepping, the day was finally here to see who would be crowned the Bake-off winner, a sought-after title. We had decided on our two signature bakes and it was time to see whose delicious treat would be the winning bake.

Aimee made chocolate-packed brownies and scrumptious caramel cupcakes. Ruth, and a bit of help from Oliver, made delicious carrot cake and sickly but oh-so-sweet triple chocolate cookies.

Daniel’s decadent Italian Chocolate Log was one for all the chocolate lovers with the lightest of fairy cupcakes and the citrus hit of the classic lemon drizzle.

I stuck to my staples and whipped up some mouthwatering white chocolate and raspberry flapjacks and rich millionaires shortbread. We also ensured to cater for as many people as we could so had some lovely light gluten-free muffins alongside our other yummy bakes.

We set up first thing in the morning and went right through selling all the delicious cakes until 2pm. We had so many lovely people and businesses come and support our fundraising. They sampled our cakes and everyone was incredibly generous and supportive. It was lovely to speak to everyone and get to see so many faces throughout the day.

We really were blown away by the kindness and generosity of everyone, it surpassed the turnout and fundraising amount we had ever dreamed of.

We raised a huge amount of money with the final total from the Windsor Hill Mortgages Bake-off recorded as £234.35!

The whole team couldn’t be happier with how much was raised to go to Mind to support all the incredible work they are doing.

We hope that by raising money and continuing the crucial conversations around mental health, people know they are not alone.

Local Mind services are spread out across England and Wales with one hundred and twenty five facilities providing specialist support that reflects the needs of the communities they are supporting.

Every year, 1 in 4 of us will experience a mental health problem and thousands more will be struggling with their mental health. Mind aims to provide support to all those in need, ensuring no one has to face their struggles alone. They also work tirelessly to raise awareness and reduce the stigma surrounding mental health problems by improving understanding.

The local Mind services have this year alone supported over 425,000 people across England and Wales. This includes providing talking therapies, crisis helplines, drop-in centres, counselling, befriending and employment and training schemes.

If you are struggling, reach out, and contact Mind because it is ok not to be ok, there are people there ready to help you when you need it the most.

Keep talking, reach out for help and eat cake!

As it stands, Daniel has raised £358 of his £2,000 target. If you would like to help, donate here: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/daniel-jones181. Megan Godfrey
