Following on from articles in The Journal during September, Calais Action South West, co-ordinated by local mum, Laura Campbell, from Radstock, is again looking for donations for refugees in camps at Calais and Samos, Greece.

The group received a fantastic response last time and hopes it will do so again, with offers of help for storage and transport of donations by local people.

This time, donations are needed at Calais of blankets, tents, camp beds, sleeping bags, rollmats, torches and batteries. Also needed are coats, jogging trousers or jeans (28-36"), jumpers, brand new underwear, winter accessories such as hats, gloves and scarves, socks, walking boots (sizes 5–11) and backpacks.

In Samos, all of the above is needed, plus women and children’s clothing and walking boots, children’s toys (small for ease of transport) and teddies.

If you are clearing out over Christmas and have any donations you can spare, please contact Laura by emailing: [email protected]

or message via the Facebook Group, CalaisActionSouthWest. Items will then need to be transported to Storagebase Self Storage, 1 Cornbrash, Frome, BA11 2FD, who will be storing donations prior to them being delivered to Calais and London before going to Samos. The group hope to be able to carry out regular trips to send aid over the winter.
