In this week's letters column, Peasedown St John Councillors have taken the time to wish everyone a happy time over the festive season.

We’d like to take this opportunity to wish your readers, and in particular those living in Peasedown St John, a Happy Christmas and a peaceful New Year.

2023 has been another challenging year for us all. The cost-of-living crisis has meant that we’ve all had to tighten our belts and watch what we spend. It’s been encouraging to see how we, as a community, have pulled together to support those in need.

Thank you to everyone who has played a part in showing how much of a generous spirited, warm-hearted community Peasedown St John is. Whether that’s to a neighbour in need, or a friend down the road, thank you!

The last 12 months have shown just how strong we are as a community when we work together. When we’re united, we can achieve so much more!

We’d like to thank all of those organisations and individuals who have gone above and beyond to serve and support others.

We are hoping that next year will be a much more positive year for us all. Many of our community services have continued to provide opportunities for local people to meet others, such as the village library, the SWALLOW Café at the Hive Community Centre, local sports clubs and faith groups. Plus, the Peasedown Community Trust has been able to provide funding to community groups, individuals and families that have been hit the hardest as the cost of living has increased over the last year.

Peasedown residents will have recently received our Christmas newsletter through your door, which gives an overview of some of the issues we’ve been pushing forward on their behalf. If you’ve not received it yet, it’ll be dropping through your letter box over the next few days.
