Coeliac UK recently gained a near £2,000 boost thanks to a Jazz Night organised by the Midsomer Norton and Radstock Inner Wheel Club.

Decorated with balloons and flowers, the Somer Centre was an ideal venue for 130 people to enjoy the music of The New Delta Jazz Band, with its leader, Roger Bonsall and players, Clive Johnson, Tom Whittingham, John Massey, Clarence

Nugent and Steve Graham entertaining in the New Orleans tradition.

Everyone entered into the spirit of the occasion and a heads and tails elimination challenge found Avril Leat winning the magnum of champagne donated by Rotary Chairman, Ian Hobbs. A hamper of wine and chocolates and another of toiletries were the main prizes in the raffle that attracted a big spend, with Margaret Hockey, Judith Cox, Sue Burke, Martin Russell, Yasa Karl and John Redmond Lyon well pleased with their winnings.

Thanking club members, the band and all those who had bought tickets in support, Inner Wheel President, Jacky Emm, said that Coeliac UK was her chosen charity as her granddaughter lived with the condition and she knew first hand what sufferers and their families have to cope with.
