CAN you guess where this week’s Mystery Photograph was taken?
Each week, the Journal invites readers to identify a historic location from days gone by.
Last week we featured a picture kindly sent in by Peter Strawbridge.
We had two readers email in with their guesses. Edward Oldman wrote to say: “I believe the photo is to be the end of St Chad’s Avenue. I remember it well because I often walked passed there when I was a little lad.”
Delphine Watts also emailed us to say: “I think it is St Chad’s Road off Silver Street, Midsomer Norton.
We also had numerous entries on the Facebook post. Andrew Bevan commented: “That looks like Kilmersdon again, looking from the village hall towards the Joliffe/Church,” while David Pow said: "I think it is St John’s Church in Midsomer Norton, taken from Pow's Orchard.”

Pete Mocock guessed: “St John's Church looking from St Chads, Somervale School will be on the left in the future,” while Kerrin Riddle wrote: “That looks like Norton taken from behind the alleyway round the back of One Stop. Near that bit by Somervale School.”
Matt Fried added: “Looks like St John’s Church, Midsomer Norton taken where the Eyeplan building is behind One Stop next to Somervale School.”
Julie Chant thought the image was in Radstock while Emily Watmough thought it was Chilcompton.
The image sent in by Peter Strawbridge was indeed St Chad’s Avenue in Midsomer Norton. He explained: “St Chad's Avenue, Midsomer Norton, looking North from about half way down, before the surgery was built. The field on the far right was used by Boulters to grow vegetables for sale in their shop.”
Thank you for all the guesses. Let’s see how you get on with this week’s image - thanks to Radstock Museum.
