A screening application, which has gone in to B&NES Council to determine whether or not an Environmental Impact Assessment needs to be made has revealed more about potential plans for the old Welton, Bibby and Baron site.
Plans in early stages suggest a proposed mixed development of 210 residential units, 150 homes and seventy for elderly care, including sheltered housing and possibly a care home.
The 6.5 hectare site on old factory land could consist of a 2–4 storey development with studio and 1–4 bed dwellings, including affordable housing and enhanced pedestrian links to the surrounding area.
The outline plans also reveal a sixty bed hotel, which is mentioned as a Travelodge, with a family-style public house, convenience store and two A1 units, including a hot food takeaway.
An initial consultation event and exhibition took place in July 2015. B&NES should make a decision on the environmental impact assessment this month, which will eventually make way for outline plans to be submitted to the local authority.
