The following article is a candidate profile for the Midsomer Norton Town Council candidate, Simon Wilkinson. All views expressed are solely those of the author.

To introduce myself, I am married with two sons, was born and brought up in the local area, live in Midsomer Norton and, after qualifying as a vehicle mechanic, it was a natural progression for me to choose to base my career in this area. I now own successful garages in both Radstock and Frome.

A strong sense of community has always been important to me as I have always been involved in local sociable activities, including snooker, pool and golf. I am also a trustee and committee member of Writhlington Village Hall. This has led me to interact with many people from all walks of life and I like to think I am sympathetic to the views and needs of other people.

I, like the other new candidates standing for election this year, am seeing much discontentment amongst the residents of Midsomer Norton, people want things to be better, they want change so I have decided to put myself forward to help make that change. With a strong, grounded common-sense attitude, I will do my best to achieve this should I be fortunate enough to be given the opportunity to serve as a local councillor.
