B&NES Council give notice of a temporary road closure on Claypit Road and North Wick in Chew Magna.

Notice is given that Bath and North East Somerset Council in exercise of its powers under section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 intends to make an order to the effect of which will be to temporarily introduce a road closure in 2 phases in that length of:

  • Phase 1 - North Wick, Chew Magna from its junction with Claypit Road extending west for approximately 300 metres. USRN: 47902309.
  • Phase 2 – Claypit Road, Chew Magna from its junction with North Wick extending north west for approximately 175 metres. USRN: 47921602.

This order is required because works are being or are proposed to be executed on or near the road to enable Openreach to safely access telegraph poles in order to provide overhead cabling on the 11th January 2024 for a maximum period of 2 days. The road will only be restricted as and when traffic signs are in position and may not be effected for the whole of the period but only for so long as is necessary to execute the works. This is anticipated to be for ONE DAY between 09:30 – 15:30hrs only.

ALTERNATIVE ROUTE: Phase 1 closure: Claypit Road – Whitchurch Lane - East Dundry Lane – Wells Road – Upton Lane – North Wick – Vice versa.

Phase 2 closure: Claypit Road (remainder) – Whitchurch Lane - East Dundry Lane – Wells Road – Upton Lane – North Wick – Vice versa
