BLOOMFIELD Care Centre in Paulton and Crandon Springs Care Home in Wells marked the 81st anniversary of Victory in Europe Day in style.

Both settings commemorated VE Day with a 1940s afternoon of nostalgia including a special wartime-themed show performed by the D-Day Dollies.

Residents were thrilled to meet the performers afterwards in Wells, posing for photos and joining in the celebratory spirit of remembrance and community.

Resident Pat from Bloomfield in Paulton was eighteen at the time. She said: “I was living with mum and dad, we lived near an army camp in Plymouth from where I met my Polish husband, It was exciting I heard Winston Churchill’s speech and then we had a small party on the village green. Everyone brought chairs and food to celebrate”.
