On 25th November, Mendip Hockey Club Ladies Seconds played Old Bristolians away. Mendip came out with their fighting heads on, and were determined to win.

Mendip took a while to get settled, being used to a fast and bouncy pitch, and conceded two goals in quick succession in the first half.

However, Mendip did not give up and fought back. From a short corner, after Sally Stanford’s first-time shot was saved, Karen Inns pounced with a well-executed reverse stick to pull one back. A second came from a great run and a lovely timed pass from Jackie Browning into the path of Karen Inns, who, with precision, slotted past the keeper.

With the team in high spirits and all working hard, Mendip came out in the second half looking for the elusive goal to win the match. They had chances, but just could not find the final touch.

Great goalkeeping from Dannielle Seymour kept Mendip in the game, but with Old Bristolians refusing to give as well, against the run of play they scored a killer goal in the last few minutes, making final score 3-2.

Player of the match went to Karen Inns for excellent running and two fab goals.
