At Withies Lane on Sunday, in Division Two of the ECB Women's County Championship, Somerset eased to a comfortable nine-wicket win over Wales.
On the hottest day of the year so far and on an excellent playing surface, Wales batted first and reached three figures for the loss of just two wickets, but then slumped to 151 all out. The bulk of the damage was done by Jenny Withers (3–24) and Lorraine Sczcepanski (3–31).
Somerset lost just one wicket in reaching the required target in 35 overs. Wicket-keeper, Sophie Le Marchand, added to a fine performance behind the stumps with 79 runs and shared a century stand with Skipper, Sophie Luff (39).
With one league match left to play, against Devon, Somerset still have a good chance of making the Division Two play-off final.
