Chew Magna were asked to bat on a wicket largely unaffected by the recent rain, but offering some assistance to the bowlers, as home Skipper, Nick Potter, won another important toss.

Opening the bowling with spin paid off when Nick Pang struck in the first over, with the help of the first of three catches by wicketkeeper, Martin Blackmore. A combination of accurate bowling and injudicious batting reduced Chew Magna to 66–5, before brothers, Gary (13) and Dave (27) Filer added 28 for the sixth wicket.

Potter (3–31) claimed two wickets in two balls, but Charlie Thompson (30) and Ken Mondair featured in the innings' highest partnership of 34 to reach 150 and two batting points.

Norton made a solid start to their reply, as James Harvey and Alex Lear put on 34 for the first wicket. Martin Cox joined Lear in the ninth over and the pair were largely untroubled by the Chew Magna bowlers, although both gave chances. Their partnership of 117 was unbroken as they both reached deserved half-centuries and secured the win with 21 overs to spare.
