It’s been a pretty dire week at Norwest, with loss after loss to report.
Our Ladies had two league games this week. The first, a Wild League game, on Tuesday at home to Paulton was lost 12–0, while on Thursday, it was away to Bloomfield for a North Somerset League game, which again was lost, but at least we managed to claim two of the ten points. The mixed MMSL game at home to Stothert and Pitt was played in the rain, and resulted in another loss with just two points for Norwest.
And now to the Men’s results. Wednesday saw Purnell’s Men visiting Norwest for a MSL game, which resulted in a 16–0 defeat for Norwest. The downward slide continued with both our County League games on Saturday. The A team losing 10–2 against Purnell B, while our B team also lost 10–2 at Frome Selwood. In the Men’s County Triples, after beating a very strong team from Bath on the Tuesday, Aaron, Merv and Graham lost their next round game on Friday, once again to a Purnell team. In the National Two Fours competition, we had our only bright spot of the week when our lads went through to round two, beating the chaps from City of Wells. Well done lads, and good luck when you meet Keynsham next.
And now to the Fun Day... or not! Back in The Journal on 30th May, I confessed to several mistakes in this year’s fixture list. One being that after changing our Fun Day date from June 4th to August 6th, I forgot to remove the original date from the men’s list. I also put a notice on the men’s noticeboard at the club listing all the errors and I thought, judging from the amount of stick I got, the message was well and truly
received, but it seems I was wrong! I’ve had so many enquiries about it this last week, I’m wondering if perhaps old age is catching up with some of our chaps! So just to confirm: the Fun Day is on August 6th, so you’ve still got plenty of time to sort out some prizes for the tombola and save up your pennies.
