What a start for the first two games of the season in the Somerset County Premier League One, with the Purnell A team beating St Andrew’s Weston-super-Mare at home, 10–2, just losing on one rink.
Then, last Saturday, they travelled to Banwell, coming away with all twelve points, winning on all three rinks. On Sunday, it was on to Knowle for the National Top Club Competition, again, coming away with a great result, winning on three disciplines: Terry Priddle Two Wood Singles, Den Skehan and Hugh Lorimer, Pairs, and Mat Elly, Adie Church and Paul Curtis in the Triples.
The B team have not got off to a good start in East One, beating Paulton but losing on two rinks and last Saturday again losing on two rinks at Norwest; losing the game 10–2.
After losing 12–0 to Bath on the first day of the season, the C team in East Two really bounced back with a good 12–0 win away to Frome Park B.
In the Mid-Somerset League there was a good 16–0 win against local rivals, Prattens.
This Saturday is real test for the A team. Playing the very strong Ilminster at home, they are hoping they can follow up the win against them in the league – the last time the two teams met at Purnell.
Little old Purnell at the top of the Somerset County Bowls Premier League – how good does that sound?!
