The Bowls Development Alliance are running a Community Club Hub programme at Purnell Bowls Club, Paulton from mid-January.

The Bowls Development Allience will be running programmes and sessions which aim to improve physical and mental wellbeing, allow participants to meet people in their community and learn how to play bowls in a friendly and relaxed environment.

The sessions are known as ‘Bowl for Health’ and consist of two-hour sessions with the first hour introducing participants to the basics of bowls, and the second hour including tea/coffee and biscuits in order to socialise with fellow participants following the bowling. The first session will be held on Thursday, 18th January between 4:15pm and 6:15pm with the aim to run these weekly.

Sessions are free and will run for eight weeks at Purnell Bowls Club. All bowls equipment will be provided, attendees will get to take part in a bowling session and will be offered advice on how to improve their bowling skills. Anyone wishing to attend needs to bring a clean pair of trainers with them.

Ben Abrahams, Club and Community Development Officer at Bowls Development Alliance, said: “We have previously run successful programmes before at our Club Hubs with these integral to improving membership for clubs, while using sport and physical activity to develop physical and mental wellbeing.”
