Well, I’m back! First I would like to thank Sue Burke for taking over while I was away and keeping you all informed about Friday Mixed League

As she reported last week, we are coming to the end of the season. The Men finished all their League games last week and the results were not the best, as they were unlucky to lose a few of the “seasoned” players for a few weeks due to illness. But were able to fulfil all their fixtures with the help of the new members.

We didn’t do very well in the Friday Mixed League, but there is always next year, so please support your club next season.

The Ladies started the week with a good win at home against a Victoria White team from Weston-super-Mare in the Mendip League. We won on all rinks and came away with all ten points. We did not fair so well in the North Somerset League game on Thursday against Chew Stoke. It was a windy day, but the rain stayed away and we only managed two points by winning on one rink. The Ladies have one more game this week in the Mendip League at home against Keynsham.

Saturday saw four mixed rinks play a friendly game at home against Stotthert and Pitt. There were a few spots of rain at the beginning of the match, but this soon cleared up into a warm, sunny afternoon. The game was well-enjoyed by all and played in a very friendly atmosphere. A lovely buffet tea was served and thanks were given to Della, Pat and Sue for this, and to Celia for running the bar. Fosseway won on three rinks, lost on one and won overall by eleven shots.

Remember, Finals Weekend is 21st and 22nd September, so all competitions must be completed in time for Dave Yarlett to sort out the order of play. After Finals Weekend, we have the Monday night Triples Final, followed on the Tuesday and Thursday by the Janet Norman Trophy. Please remember this begins at 3.15 p.m.

The last game of all is on Saturday, 28th September which is Captains’ Day. List for this is up on the board, so please put your names up and support your captains. Please choose either to eat and bowl or just eat (or even just bowl).

Ladies, please remember there is a short meeting on Tuesday, 24th September at 10.30 a.m. to discuss proposals being put forward to the AGM of the North Somerset League – please make every effort to attend and give your support.
