Well, back now after my week away, so some catching up to do.

Due to bad weather earlier in the season, the game against Isle of Wedmore was rearranged and played last week, and Fosseway Ladies took six of the ten points. The second game in the Mendip League was against Victoria (Blue Team) from Weston-super-Mare, played in very windy conditions, but we managed to get nine of the ten points, which was sweet revenge, as they beat us on their green.

The Men played Paulton at home in the Mid-Somerset League and won on every rink, taking all sixteen points.

Sunday saw a mixed friendly played at Wellington Bowls Club. Fosseway were well turned out in their new club shirts. The weather kept dry and good bowling was seen on all rinks. Fosseway won overall and were treated to a “proper” Bowls tea at eleven ends, and then a lot of socialising at the end when the bar was open. This is a fixture on a home and away basis, so we look forward to welcoming Wellington next season.

On Tuesday, the ladies travelled to Weston-super-Mare for the second time, this time to play Victoria (White Team). In blazing sunshine, we all had a good game. We won on one rink, drew on one rink and lost on the third, losing overall by seven shots. So, we had three points and Victoria had seven.

On Wednesday’s MS League, the men welcomed old friends from Purnell Bowls Club. Fosseway only won on one rink, so only achieved two points. It was a very enjoyable game against a strong team.

On a very windy Thursday afternoon, the Ladies played against Purnell’s Ladies in the North Somerset League. It was a very close game on all rinks, with Fosseway winning on all rinks and so getting the ten points.

The MSL Mixed game on Friday was played at home against Castle Cary on a beautiful evening. Fosseway lost on all rinks, but everyone enjoyed the evening.

Saturday saw our Men playing at Norwest where they were beaten on all rinks.

On Sunday, we were visited by a team from Congresbury. It was a good game played under very hot conditions, but Devizes proved to be too strong and won on all rinks.

We would like to congratulate Carole and Sheila, who have progressed through another round in the Pairs competition by beating a team from Bath Bowling Club. They now have to play a pair from Prattens, so we wish them all the best.

Monday nights are still very popular, so come along and try out the game. Also club competitions are being played, so good luck to everyone.
