Another week of mixed results. Tuesday’s game was a no-goer, as Weston Bath Ladies were unable to get a team, so Fosseway were given the ten points. Thursday we were visited by a ladies team from Chew Stoke. Fosseway won on two rinks, lost on one and won overall by just two shots, hence earning eight of the ten points. These were both North Somerset League games.
On Wednesday, Frome Selwood Men’s team visited Fosseway to play a MSL game and Fosseway won on two rinks and lost on two rinks, taking four of the points. The men were unable to get a team for the friendly match against Frome Park on Friday, so this game will be re-arranged for a date later in the season. On Saturday, the County League game was at home against Imperial. One rink won, and with Fosseway picking up five shots on the last end, managed to draw on one rink, but lost on the other rink, losing the game by only three shots overall, so gaining three points.
Sunday, a mixed team travelled to Shepton Mallet for a friendly game. It was indeed a very friendly played game, but the home team won on all rinks.
Next week, the ladies have a busy week, with extra games. Fear Cup, on Friday, away to Castle Cary and on Saturday, we play the Southey Cup at home to Stothert and Pitt. We have a mixed game on the Sunday with a visiting team from Barnwood in Gloucestershire, this is a return fixture for when we visited them last year.
Don’t forget Monday evening club nights, this week, the cooking will be on the barbeque, so come along and enjoy the good cooked food after your game. AM
