Well not a lot of bowling to report on this week. The Ladies’ had one North Somerset League game and the Men a Mid-Somerset League game and we had one mixed friendly.

After all the hot sunny weather, Tuesday brought the rain with a vengeance. The Ladies played at Keynsham and only managed 18 ends of the 21 due to the wet weather. We managed to win on only one rink, so they felt like they had had their revenge, as we beat them on our rink earlier in the season.

The Men had a better result in their Wednesday night match. They played away at Paulton, in the Mid-Somerset League, and managed to win on all rinks, so took all the points.

A group of members had a very warm welcome at Barbara Jones on Friday. We enjoyed tea, coffee and homemade cakes before looking around her beautiful garden. Thanks Barb, from all your Fosseway friends.

The long-awaited away day was on Sunday, when we visited The Den bowling green at Teignmouth. After a bit of a mix up, firstly we were expecting to play at 2 p.m., they had us down for 2.30 p.m., secondly we had six rinks and they had six triples, but we had a very enjoyable afternoon. Luckily the rain stayed off and we won on two rinks, but lost on the other four. The overall score was Teignmouth, 103, Fosseway, 81. If this had been a ‘serious game’, Teignmouth would have had to lose 25 per cent of their score, which would have given Fosseway a win by three and three quarter shots.

Next week, the Ladies have a busy time with two North Somerset League games, followed by first round of Fear Plate, on Friday, and second round of The Southey Cup, on Saturday. Good luck Ladies, do your best.

The Men play Purnells in the Mid Somerset League on Wednesday, and then Purnells B, in the County League, on Saturday. Both games away at Purnells.

Don’t forget Club Triples on Sunday, with roast lunch being served, so get your orders in.

Club night on Monday as usual, new bowlers are welcome to come along and have a go.
