Purnell’s Indoor season is now well underway and there have been some good League and Cup results by both the Ladies’ and the Men’s teams.
The Men won their opening game against Doyatt and the Ladies have gone through two rounds of the Yetton Cup, firstly beating St Andrew’s, Weston-super-Mare, then overcoming a tricky game against Bristol.
The last two Friday social nights have been exciting for very different reasons. Two weeks ago, the professional bingo players converged on the club to win the £130 jackpot – it was Jan Chamberlain and Teresa Hawkins who carried off the largest prize the club has ever paid out, the second jackpot is up to £85, so there is keen interest in this one.
Last Friday, Jason Lee came out from Bristol to entertain the members and friends and what a great night it turned out to be. We are now looking forward to Chris Rainbow, another great singer, on December 2nd, and, who knows, perhaps another big bingo win!
There are still vacancies on a Saturday morning to come along to be taught the wonderful game of bowls – the club’s coaches are there, waiting to pass on their years of playing the game. Anyone can just turn up with trainers, everything else is provided and it is free.
