Well, the hot sunny weather brought out Fosseway’s bowlers. Monday saw a very good turnout for the Monday club night, also many members were getting on with their club competitions. Good luck to all.
The first match of the week was the Men, who played away at Norwest in the Mid-Somerset League on Wednesday. They only won on one rink, so got two out of the fourteen points. It was better news for the Ladies, who played Keynsham at home on the Thursday. The green was very fast and tricky, but we managed to win on two rinks and draw on one, so collected nine of the ten points.
Friday’s MSL mixed league game was against our close neighbours, Prattens. Every rink seemed to be enjoying the game, with some very good bowling and lots of banter. We managed to win on one rink only, so had two points. The men played a County League game on Saturday at home against Frome Selwood and won on two rinks, losing on one and won overall, claiming 10 of the 12 points. Well done.
A team from Devizes visited on Sunday. An excellent game was played in good weather conditions and very friendly atmosphere. Before tea, Fosseway were winning well, but like they say, everything changes after tea and by golly, so it did. We managed to win on two rinks and lost on three. We lost the game 107 to 90 shots. Three certificates were handed to players playing a wrong bias, two to Devizes and one to Fosseway (but the person says he was aiming for the jack on the next rink). No matter the result, a great afternoon was had by all.
Next week’s friendly is against Shepton Mallet away, but more names are needed, so please put your names down. Della works very hard to get these fixtures, so please give her your support. AM
