This week for our Ladies it was a case of some you win and some you lose. We had two home games, the first being on Tuesday, when the ladies from Bath visited us for a North Somerset League game, which was definitely a ‘some you lose’ kind of game, as Bath claimed all ten of the points on offer. Thursday and the tables turned and it was a ‘some you win’ game for Norwest. Victory was sweet for our girls, as we played local rivals Prattens, in a very enjoyable Wild League game and took ten of the twelve points.
On Tuesday evening our lads ventured off to Keynsham for their first round game in the Turnbull Cup, unfortunately Norwest lost the game so Keynsham go through to the next round, in which we wish them well. Our lads will now go on to the Wedmore Plate competition.
On Wednesday evening it was our lads’ turn to meet some more local rivals, this time it was a team from Paulton, who came to our green for a Mid-Somerset League game. Although it had been a rather damp day they were lucky and managed to play without getting wet and enjoyed a very friendly game with Norwest, taking all of the 16 points.
The Saturday Mens’ County League East games were both played away, with the A team visiting Keynsham B to claim a very satisfying 12-0 victory, however the B team could only claim one of the twelve points in their game against Stothert and Pitt A.
We rounded the week off with a friendly game away to Spencer Moulton. It was a great afternoon and much enjoyed by all, even if Norwest did manage to lose by 22 shots.
Don’t forget that this week sees the start of the 101 competition on Monday evenings. It’s great fun, even if the scoring does tend to be a little confusing, and all you have to do to take part is to turn up. Also, this coming Sunday, it’s the Cecil Jones competition and once again, you just need to turn up, so come on, it doesn’t matter if you’re a newbie or one of our old hands, just come along and enjoy!
