What a brilliant turnout for the Bowls Club’s 2017 subs evening. It was really great to see several members, who could not play last year through ill health problems, return to Norwest looking bright eyed, bushy tailed and raring to go! We also had some new members in attendance, which was great and overall it’s looking very promising for the new season.
Our treasurer, Mary, was in her element, gathering in all the subs and orders for club shirts. Mary is one of Norwest’s unsung heroes, without whom the club couldn’t function. Thanks Mary, great job as always.
Two more thank yous go to, firstly, Ann Woodham for all her hard work in the kitchen to supply the really scrumptious ploughman’s suppers and secondly, to Brian, our bar manager, for pulling the pints which helped to make the evening such a convivial one. If our 2017 season is as successful as our subs evening, it looks like we’re in for a real humdinger of a season!
Further to last week’s sad news about the death of former member, Margaret Aston, I can now tell you that Margaret’s funeral will be held at Gwent Crematorium on April 4th at 1 p.m. I’m sure that although, due to distance, members may not be able to attend the funeral, our thoughts will be of Margaret and the many happy times we shared with her at Norwest.
