Last Wednesday, Purnell Men were home to local rivals, Paulton, in the Mid-Somerset Bowls League, it’s always a special occasion when the two clubs meet, with everyone knowing everyone playing. Many bowlers from Paulton play on Purnell’s Indoor rinks during the winter months.
It was a close game, the home team winning on all rinks in the end, keeping them out in front at the top of the league by thirteen points. On Saturday, all the attention was on the B and C teams, as the A team did not have a game. The B team were home to Stotherts and the C team home to Prattens. What a game the B team had with the bottom team in the league, Stotherts. It went right to the last end of the last rink. The home team falling over the line by just one shot, points 10–2. The C team put up a great fight against top of the league Prattens, they won on one rink just losing by one shot on another and losing in the third.
