Well what a week, full of ups and downs on the bowling side. It began with the Men playing at Frome Selwood in the Mid-Somerset League and losing on all rinks. Next, the Ladies played at Nailsea in the Mendip League, and only won on one rink, but the bowling was good and the weather hot.

The next was the mixed MSL game at Wyrall Park, where we won on two rinks, lost on one, but lost the game by five shots, so taking four points. We finished the week off with a friendly game at home against Alexandra Park and lost on all rinks.

So, a new start to a new week, the Ladies visited Alexandra Park in the North Somerset League and won on one rink; the next Ladies game was much better when we visited Weston Bath in the same league and won on all rinks, so taking the ten points.

The Men played Prattens at home and lost on all rinks. (This game is best forgotten). At least the sausage and chips cheered them up. Thanks, Celia!

The Mixed MSL game was at home to Frome Selwood on Friday evening. The weather was terrible, but we managed to play all 21 ends. Fosseway won on two rinks, lost on one, but won overall by five shots, getting ten of the twelve points. Supper of fish and chips was very welcomed, thanks again to Celia.

The Men’s County League game on Saturday was played at home to Keynsham B. Fosseway won on two rinks and lost on one. Keynsham were one short on one of their rinks, so had to lose 25% of their score on that rink. The final score was 49 for Fosseway and 48.5 for Keynsham, giving Fosseway ten points and Keynsham two.

Sunday’s friendly was against Begbrook Green (Bristol). Rain stopped play after the eighth end, so we had an early tea and then resumed the game when the rain stopped. It was nice to play against a new team who were very friendly.

We won on one rink, drew on one rink and lost on two, and lost overall. But everyone enjoyed the game and a return match is being fixed for 2018, when we will visit them.

Yours truly is on holiday for a week, so there may not be a write-up next week.

Don’t forget Monday night club night, everyone welcome.
