SOMERSET Girls Academy lost a 50-overs a side match against Glamorgan at Newport by seven wickets.

Batting first Somerset lost two early wickets before Laila Moledina and Niamh Holland added 73 for the third wicket when the latter was out for 51 off 50 balls.

Moledina and Lilly Hawkins took the total onto 118 when the former was out for 15 off 70 balls. Hawkins and Jaz Westley saw Somerset onto 147 when Hawkins was out for 43.. Westley went onto make 21, Ellie Goldsworthy 18 and L Harries 19 as Somerset were all out for 195.

When Glamorgan replied opening bowler Erin Vukusic made an easy breakthrough, but two partnerships saw the hosts reach 104 for three to gain the advantage.

Somerset bowlers then struck back and at 140 for six the game was well balanced. The visitors claimed another wicket with the total on 174 but Glamorgan reached their target without further loss. Westley took 3-31.
