SOMERSET’S Thomas Rew and Archie Vaughan played a prominent part in the First Youth Test between England Under 19s and India which ended in a draw at Beckenham.
Wicketkeeper Rew scored a half century and took six catches while Vaughan claimed 6 for 84 to end with match figures of 8-192.
Batting first India were all out for 530, with Rew claiming three catches, while Vaughan ended with 2-108. In reply England were dismissed for 439 of which Rew contributed a patient 34 and helped to add 80 runs in 20 overs for the sixth wicket with Ekansh Singh who hit 59.
Batting again India were bowled out for 248, with off spinner Vaughan claiming 6-84 and Rew taking three catches. In their second innings chasing a total of 339 for victory England ended on 270 for seven, Rew making 50 off 35 deliveries with eight 4s, during which he shared a 62 run fifth wicket stand with Singh.
