Simon Wellington, Farrington Golf Club's Men's Captain, and his partner,
Steve Symonds, have progressed to the final sixteen of the National Seniors Pairs Knockout.
Over 130 pairs entered the competition. The Four Ball Better Ball format was played at Farrington in overcast conditions, but the course was in superb condition, despite the recent heavy rain.
Matched against Mike Metcalfe and Rod Patch, from Wells Golf Club, they triumphed by 3&2.
The Wells pair opened up with a par to go one up at the first, but Symonds helped the Farrington pairing to a three-hole lead by playing the first ten holes in three over par.
Wellington kept the pressure on at the eleventh with a fine birdie to halve the hole. With the twelfth halved in four, Symonds and Wellington proceeded to win the thirteenth to go four up, but their lead was again reduced to three when Metcalfe secured a par on the fourteenth.
With the fifteenth halved in three, the Wells pair conceded the sixteenth when Patch's par putt failed to drop, giving the Farrington men a victory.
