This Sunday, Welton Rovers Football Club will host their fourth annual charity football event as two Welton sides compete for the Paul Ingram Memorial Trophy, to raise money for former Welton Rovers, Radstock Town and Paulton Rovers player, Jamie Mines.

Jamie suffered a tragic work accident in December 2016 which caused the young father of twins to require amputation of both arms and a leg as part of his rehabilitation.

Since the horrific news, the local community, and sporting family further afield, have rallied together to raise in excess of £100,000 for the Mines family and Welton look forward to adding to that total.

A club spokesperson said: “We started this annual event as a way to remember Paul Ingram, a man who devoted a lot of time and effort to our club. As a result, we’ve raised thousands of pounds for Dorothy House over the past three years, but this year, we’re glad to take the opportunity to support a former player in need.”

The event will begin at 11 a.m. on Sunday, 30th April, with a match being played between a team of Welton veterans and the Greens’ Somerset Premier Cup winning side of 2010. After that, there will be action from Midsomer Norton Youth FC, as well as family entertainment and food throughout the day. Entry is free, with donations being collected throughout.
