Timsbury Athletic 12 Stockwood Green 0

Timsbury Athletic went goal crazy with their largest win for many years against a spirited but outclassed Stockwood Green side in the Uhlsport Somerset County League Premier Division.

The visitors had no answer to Timsbury’s potent attacking force which ran amok in the second half when they grabbed nine goals.

The carnage began in the ninth minute when Rico Sobers, who caused mayhem down the right wing pulled the ball back for the prolific Rhys Cook to score.

Ibrahim Hussain did cause one moment of danger at the other with a darting run that needed several defenders to deal with but generally it was one way traffic and on the half-hour the deadly trio of Sobers, Cook and Sam Gregory set up Gregory for Timsbury’s second.

Two minutes from half-time Chris Midgley put Sobers through and the forward’s cool finish made it 3-0 at the interval.

The second half saw an avalanche of Timsbury attacks and after Callum Taylor had hit the bar from close range Sobers made it 4-0 with his second goal. Ellis Hancock shot just over the top before another cross from Sobers saw the unfortunate Stockwood keeper James Dobson drop the ball at Cook’s feet and he had no problem making it 5-0.

With half-an-hour still to go another delightful cross from Sobers saw Cook notch his hat-trick while in a rare foray at the other end Luke Tanner headed over the top. It was then time for substitute Ellis Hancock to get in on the act converting another Sobers centre to make it 7-0 before Hancock returned the compliment crossing for Sobers to complete his own hat-trick.

Hancock added Timsbury’s ninth goal with a calm finish before Cook made it 21 league goals for the season with his fourth on the day.

Defender Josh Swarbrick then completed the misery for the visitors moving up front to open his Timsbury account with two late goals for the magic dozen.

This coming Saturday Timsbury will be striving for a place in the semi-finals of the Somerset Senior Cup when they entertain Yatton and Cleeve United with a 2pm kick-off. M Tucker
