Purnell Under-13 Girls lost to Team Mendip this week on a wet and miserable day.
Purnell were a player down, but worked well as a team and it took Team Mendip just over twenty minutes to break through the resolute defence of Ruby, Ellie and Tilly.
Purnell were 4-0 down by half time, but did not give up, and challenged Mendip in the second half. Purnell had chances from set plays, but were unlucky not to make the most of them. A goalmouth scramble led to Abi scoring Purnell’s only goal of the game.
Though a tough match for Purnell against the league leaders, it was a great effort by the team, who played the whole match a player down, but never gave up. Final score 7-1. Player of the match went to Tilly, for non-stop running and some great last-ditch tackles in defence.
