WELTON Rovers crashed to an 11-0 away defeat against the holders Frome Town in the opening round of the Francis Hillier Somerset Premier Cup in mid-week.
Frome, who beat Portishead Town 3-2 in last season's final in April, were far too good for Rovers who are struggling at the bottom of the first division in the Jewson Western League.
Frome knocked out Bath City in the semi-finals of last season’s competition, winning 3-1 away.
Bath gained a 3-1 home win over Bridgwater United in the opening round of this season’s competition while Portishead were 2-0 home winners over Keynsham Town.
The local derby between Bishops Hull and Taunton Town ended in a 4-0 away victory for Taunton who are one of the cup favourites.
*It is the second time this season that Welton have been heavily beaten, having lost 13-0 at home to Longwell Green Sports in a league match.
