A Bowmaker competition on the fully open Duchy course was the order of the day for the Farrington Park Ladies on Thursday, 30th January.
Playing in teams of three with two best scores to count on every hole, it was the perfect format for a dull and at times, wet, winter’s day. Every team member was involved in their game and their teammates were there as a back-up, in case the golf shots didn’t happen as planned.
Rosi Brown and Gail Proctor scored two spot birdies at the fifth and fifteenth holes respectively. The final scores were very good for winter golf, one shot separated the top three teams. Fourth place went to Lo Dalloco, Margaret Seery and Jackie Hobbs, with 70 points. Five ahead of them were Jane Ball, Corinne Durbin and Liz Thomas, who were beaten on countback for second place by Pauline Young, Rosi Brown and Terri O’Shea. The winners, with 76 points, were June Symonds, Jacqui Gregory and Clare Salter.
