Farrington Park Seniors have appointed Alan Smith as their new Captain for the coming season 2022/23. Outgoing Captain Alan Skivington has performed splendidly over the last twelve months, bearing in mind that we were in the middle of the third Covid lockdown when he took over.

During his tenure, as a result of Covid restrictions, eight competitions and eight friendly matches were cancelled. However, we managed to reach the Semi-Final of the Rosebowl, losing out to the eventual winners, Brean Golf Club. Of the 21 friendly fixtures played we remained unbeaten at home, winning all of our ten matches.

On a sad note, we lost our past Captain, Tim Waller. Tim was an extremely popular member of the Section who also supported the Mixed Section for many years with his wife, Jane. He is sadly missed.

Alan’s Captains Charity, The Brian Tumour Charity has benefitted to the tune of £3,332, which is a wonderful effort and he thanks all members who have supported his charity during the last twelve months.

Alan Smith takes over a thriving section of more than 160 members and will be admirably supported by his committee. His chosen charity is the Water Survival Box and is the initiative of the Rotary Club of Chelwood Bridge. It is certain to be well supported by the many Rotary Club members of the section.

Thank you, Alan, for your inspiring leadership during your tenure and we all wish Alan Smith the very best for the coming season.
