DESPITE the wet weather, the Pro Shop Pairs Multiplier at Mendip Golf Club saw a win for Andy and Sam Thatcher with 85 points with Kelvin Adams & Frank Collins 2nd with 82 and Craig Drew & Zac Wheeler 3rd with 80.

The Ladies Texas Scramble was won by Jane Ball/Jennifer Howarth/Caroline Laws/Lesley Stone with a net 31. In 2nd place came Kay Clarke/Wendy Collins/Corinne Durbin/Suzie Howe with 32 and in 3rd place after a triple count back, came Karen Cookson/Fran Davies/Dee Garnsworthy/Lena Warren with 33.

The week has been beset with poor weather and as a result there was only a small entry for the mid week Pro Stableford. Winning with a very fine 43 points was Peter Walford with Paul Panton 2nd with 39 and Andy Walton was 3rd with 36 after count back from Ethan Bendall.

A total of 112 seniors played in the 4 man Texas Scramble which resulted in incredibly close scoring. The winning team had a net 55 and the lowest two teams had a net 66.

However only 5 points separated the team in 3rd place to 25th place! The winners were Andrew Ashman/Phil Bendall/Stephen Smith/Geoff Tucker with the net 55 referred to. Seccond came Steven Heal/Angus Henderson/Kelvin Lum/Peter Rumming with 57 after count back from three other teams – Steven Baker/Simon Grant/Kevin Keene/Nick White who were 3rd, Simon Atkinson/Andy Frampton/Bryan Lewis/John Stembridge who were 4th and Peter Daulby/Nick Inskip/Michael O’Haire/Bryan Say who were 5th.

Meanwhile, what a great job the club has done with it’s lounge/lobby floor renovation, it looks great and we must all strive to keep it this way, definitely no golf shoes please. Secondly the work that the greens staff have done on the Paths.
