The Farrington Park Ladies had a competition within a competition this week.

The event was a non-qualifying Stableford but there was a twist – at the end of the competition, each competitor’s name was drawn at random, matched with another player and the two scores from both were added together to find the ‘Blind Date’ winners. This year, the ‘Blind Date’ coincided with the BBC Children in Need appeal. Normally, the ladies would hold a separate competition for the BBC charity, but this year they combined the two events and all the entry fees and two spot prizes, totalling £150, went to Children in Need.

In the main competition, there were two spot birdies at the par 3 10th for Gail Proctor and June Symonds.

Scoring was low due to the winter conditions from the majority of the forty-six strong field, but there were creditable scores from Angela Hudd, who beat Cynthia Miller on countback for the top spot, after both scored 36 points.

Marilyn Cass was third with 35 points.

In the ‘Blind Date’, three teams jointly ‘scored’ 63 points, but Jane Ball and Barbara Lawson won on countback from Mandy Hobbs and Marilyn Cass, and Fiona Hassard and June Symonds, to claim the first prize of a bottle of bubbly.
