This week’s ‘Who are They’ series features Junior Captain Connie Cox. She heads up a section that is thriving.

When Stuart Disney, Director of Golf came to Mendip in 2017 the Section had been non existent for several years. Connie now has over 50 Juniors with handicaps and many more learning the game with lessons from Assistant Professional Alex Todd and Sam Scriven.

Sixteen year old Connie has been a member since 2016, initially playing in the ‘Tigers Club’ at Farrington but moving to Mendip following Stuart’s arrival. Connie’s current handicap is 9.8 and she has set herself the target to get down to 5 this year.

Connie came 2nd as part of Mendip’s Team in the National Junior Champion Club finals in 2021 at Woodhall Spa, she won the Mendip Ladies net club championship aged 13 also in 2021.

She is a current member of the Somerset Girls elite squad and as recently reported was part of Mendip’s Ladies Team who won the Holt Shield for the best 3 net scores at the recent Somerset Ladies County Championships.

We wish Connie every success personally and for her Mendip Juniors representing the future of golf at Mendip. Tony Williams
